Brother printers are prized for their rugged reliability, but connecting them to a new wireless network can be tricky if you aren’t familiar with the navigation interface. Follow this straightforward breakdown to link your Brother printer to your home or office Wi-Fi network.
Method 1: Using the Control Panel Setup Wizard
- Turn on your Brother printer.
- Press the Menu button on the control panel dashboard.
- Use the up or down navigation arrow keys to find Network, then press OK.
- Scroll down to locate WLAN and press OK.
- Select Setup Wizard and press OK.
- When the screen prompts, “WLAN Enable?”, press the up arrow or select Yes. The printer will begin scanning your environment for broadcast signals.
- Scroll through the list of network names until you locate your Wi-Fi network, then click OK.
- Enter Your Password: Use the arrow keys to scroll through letters, numbers, and symbols. Press OK after entering each character to confirm it. Once the entire password is entered, press OK one final time to connect.
Method 2: One-Touch WPS Setup (Fastest Option)
If your wireless router features a physical WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button, you can bypass typing passwords manually.
- Navigate to your printer’s control panel. Go to Menu > Network > WLAN > WPS.
- Press OK. When the printer screen asks to initialize WPS, select Yes.
- Walk over to your home internet router within 2 minutes and hold down the physical WPS button for 3 to 5 seconds until its indicator light flashes.
- Your Brother printer and router will automatically detect each other and securely exchange security credentials without you having to input a single key.
